College Preparation

The course for credit policy from the State Board of Education (CCRE-001) states that college/university courses of 3 and 4 credit hours will receive one high school credit.  Each student's schedule will look different and the credit type (elective or core) will be determined and awarded based on the course(s) the student is enrolled in and their high school graduation requirement needs. Upon completion of each course, students will need to provide their Wake Prep Student Services Advisor with a copy of their transcript so the grade and credit can be recorded accordingly. 

If a student does not pass their dual enrollment course, they will not receive college or high school credit for the course and it will be reported as a failure on their high school AND college transcript. This could also impact their progress towards high school graduation. As a result, it is important that students select courses carefully. 

Wake Prep is committed to supporting students in their dual enrollment journey, but it is the student’s responsibility to register for acceptance into the program. Likewise, students are responsible for registering for their courses in a timely manner. Should a student miss the CCP registration period, they will be placed in an on campus course to fulfill their graduation requirements. 

Dual enrollment credits will be weighted as honors credit. Please review the Course Catalog for a breakdown of weighted credits.
